Day 232

Hello and welcome to the Skinny Bitch Vegan – Lifestyle.

Recently, we went camping in Lake Arrowhead with my father, and my sister and her family. Rumor had it, there was a bear and its cub roaming the camp grounds, but they were suppose to be friendly bears…whatever that means. My two boys, my niece and nephew were not buying the “friendly bear” scenario, so the kids made spears from sticks they found on the ground. They managed to sharpen the edges of their spears, with knives, in the event they came face to face with a ferocious bear on a hiking adventure.

One evening, just before sun down, my husband and brother in-law ventured out into the wilderness, like cavemen, to collect fire wood. On their way back to our camp-site they were certain they heard the sound of a bear, yawning, near our camp. Trust me, we believed them, when they returned; because their faces were beat red, and they were out of breath, due to them running for their lives. Immediately, the kids fetched their spears and we all journeyed to the edge of our camp, looking for a glimpse of the mysterious bear or bears. The heroic cavemen, gained their second wind, and traveled deeper into the woods to track the bear(s). Meanwhile, my sister and I stayed back with the kids, who were armed with homemade spears. As I looked down at my son Hayden’s handy work, I noticed his spear was actually pretty good, and looked sharp enough to do some real damage if attacked by a wild animal. So, I asked Hayden if I could hold the spear just in case the bear(s) charged us. Hayden then replied, “mom…you are the worst vegan ever.”

We never did see a bear, but we were armed and ready.
