I’ll Have Oatmeal Please Jan 29

Day 16

Hello and welcome to the Skinny Bitch Lifestyle.

This morning I had breakfast with my dear friend Roxie. We ate at a restaurant in Long Beach, on the marina, and sat outside. Since I have had nothing but oatmeal and malt-o-meal the last 15 days, I thought it would be nice to change things up a bit. Of course staying within the parameters of the “vegan” rules was a must. After glancing up and down the menu several times I finally settled on──OATMEAL──AGAIN!!! The size of the menu was at least 1 & ½ feet long, by a foot wide, and a total of four pages. Great menu, but not so great if you’re a vegan──like me. The waitress then asked us for our drink order, and that was the toughest part because Roxie and I do enjoy our champagne-orange juice-cranberry concoction. Even though I begged Roxie to indulge herself, since I was driving, she refused to drink without me──a true friend! The waitress brought me hot water, and I immediately extracted a tea bag from my purse. Yes, I have officially turned into a combination of; my grandmother, my aunt, and a lady my mom was friends with growing up. Basically, I am one step away from owning one of those vitamin containers with all the days of the week plastered in HUGE letters. Next──the waitress, who looked to be about 15 years old, brought out some condiments for my oatmeal: cream, brown sugar, honey, and cinnamon──Yipee. Cinnamon was the only condiment I did use, but only a dash. Next, the evil waitress brought out a bowl of the apples, I ordered, but they were soaking in some sort of oozy cinnamon paste. It looked great, but it couldn’t be healthy, so I only had four small slices and cut each one super duper tiny, so I could spread the wealth around my oatmeal. The morning wasn’t a total loss, Roxie’s company on a clear day, while soaking up some vitamin D was just what this vegan needed anyway.

Fact:
This is for my meat eater bloggers out there: Steve Ells, the founder of Chipotle Mexican Grill, fast food restaurants, makes his food fresh. The only item that is frozen is the corn. 100% of the chicken and the pork that is used is from naturally raised animals. Meaning out door raised animals, grass feed and NO antibiotics used. And the beef used is 60% farm fresh. Also, the average American eats fast food four times a week. (Oprah Winfrey show and Steve Ells)

Another day towards a fit and fab life!!!

I had a fabulous time too. I did find it amusing when you ordered healthy oatmeal and the waitress brings out honey and brown sugar which will clearly enhance the taste yet take away from the purpose of ordering oatmeal.
I am really enjoying your blog. Keep up the great work.
